Spooky Transmission Noises: Sounds that Keep You up at Night

Halloween is fast approaching and that means it’s time for scary screams, pumpkin picking and jaw-dropping jack o’ lanterns. Right now you may be in the beginning phases of costume design, either for yourself or your little ones. However fun it may be to get scared by harmless faux ghouls on Halloween, you probably don’t want to be scared by your transmission.
Does your transmission moan and groan like there is a monster living under your car? Maybe it’s just knocking gently. Any unusual noise from your transmission is a sign of potential trouble. First, there are a couple of quick fixes you should try before considering replacement.
1. Check the fluid level. See your owner’s manual for instructions on how to do this. After a long time, transmission fluid can break down. If your transmission fluid is low, simply adding fluid may quiet the ghoulish groaning. However, if your trans is chronically low on fluid, meaning that you need to add fluid on a regular basis, there could be an underlying problem that should be checked by a trained pro.
2. Flush the system. For whatever reason, some other scary elements may make their way into your transmission. It could be water, dirt, or some other type of automotive fluid (transmission fluid does not mix well with other fluids). A good flush of the system may help, but once contaminated fluid passes through the torque converter, it may be there to stay. If the issue cannot be fixed with a flush, the best solution may be to order a remanufactured unit from ETE Reman.
ETE Reman has the best warranty coverage available, and for good reason. Every transmission that ETE remanufactures is made with brand new parts. This gives you the strongest transmission possible. Even though it is Halloween season, you’ll have nothing to be afraid of. You can sleep well knowing that your transmission has a great warranty.
