\nAs a Tough Mudder, I pledge that:<\/em><\/strong>
\nI understand that Tough Mudder is not a race, but a challenge.<\/em><\/strong>
\nI put teamwork and camaraderie before my course time.<\/em><\/strong>
\nI do not whine \u2013 kids whine.<\/em><\/strong>
\nI help my fellow mudders complete the course.<\/em><\/strong>
\nI overcome all fears.<\/em><\/strong>
\nAnd in the process, we\u2019ve learned a lot about each other and ourselves.
\nAs Kellie puts it, \u201cI learned that people behave differently when they\u2019re sweaty and exhausted and covered with grass than when they\u2019re in the office. I don\u2019t think you are who you really are until you\u2019re surrounded by colleagues and ready to barf.\u201d<\/em>
\nReman U contributor and clutch sales team player Nick adds, \u201cI\u2019ve learned that working as a team, I can accomplish more than I can on my own.\u201d<\/em>
\n\u201cI signed up because working out as a team is a good motivator,\u201d<\/em> says Megan. \u201cIt helps to be held accountable. And I\u2019ve enjoyed getting to know my coworkers on another level.\u201d<\/em>
\nThe growth doesn\u2019t stop when we exit the building. \u201cIn my graduate level classes, a popular topic is the formation of a team,\u201d<\/em> says Anthony. \u201cMost \u2018teams\u2019 are actually not teams, because they haven\u2019t experienced conflict and they don\u2019t hold each other accountable. The Tough Mudder training has brought the sales team together and shown us that it\u2019s OK to be critical of one another.\u201d<\/em>
\nSo why put ourselves through this torture? For me, it all goes back to Nietzsche: That which does not kill us makes us stronger. The process has been so physically and mentally demanding that, if I can survive this, I know I can survive anything.
\nWhatever our individual reasons for joining Tough Mudder \u2013 be it \u201cto overcome fears,\u201d \u201cpeer pressure.\u201d or \u201cjust to see if could do it\u201d \u2013 there\u2019s one undeniable truth: We\u2019re some tough mudder fudders.
