\nWhen he sits down in your office, he might notice he doesn\u2019t have a pen.<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>
\nSo, he\u2019ll probably ask to borrow one of yours.<\/em>
\nWhen he\u2019s finished taking notes, he might get carried away and take your pen along with him.<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>
\nBack at his desk, he\u2019ll probably want to take a working lunch.<\/em>
\nYou\u2019ll have to pay for a little box for him, with a sandwich and a pickle.<\/em>
\nHe\u2019ll dig in, eat until he\u2019s full, and wipe his hands with a napkin a few times.<\/em>
\nHe\u2019ll probably ask you to read over his email draft.<\/em>
\nSo, you\u2019ll read it over and he\u2019ll ask you to show him anything he should change.<\/em>
\nWhen he looks at the changes, he\u2019ll get so excited that he wants to write a new pitch of his own.<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>
\nHe\u2019ll make a graph.<\/em>
\nWhen the graph is finished, he\u2019ll add supporting text and make a PDF.<\/em>
\nThen he\u2019ll want to send it. Which means he\u2019ll need your approval.<\/em>
\nHe\u2019ll walk into your office, hand you papers, and stand back.<\/em>
\nLooking at your desk will remind him that he wants to make more money.<\/em>
\nSo, he\u2019ll ask for a lead.<\/em>
\nAnd chances are if he asks for a lead, he\u2019s going to want a phone number to go with it.<\/em>
\n 
\nThis sales story might sound familiar. It\u2019s a take on the pretty well-known children\u2019s book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie<\/a><\/em>. Many sales guys (and sales gals)<\/em> start out like this: excited, unsure, inexperienced. And early on in a young sales professional\u2019s career, there isn\u2019t such a thing as too much training or help. Long-term, though? You bet.
