{"id":4156,"date":"2018-06-07T13:59:49","date_gmt":"2018-06-07T18:59:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/etereman.com\/remanu\/?p=4156"},"modified":"2018-06-07T13:59:49","modified_gmt":"2018-06-07T18:59:49","slug":"sell-like-rebecca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/etereman.com\/remanu\/2018\/06\/07\/sell-like-rebecca\/","title":{"rendered":"Sell Like Rebecca"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4159\" src=\"http:\/\/etereman.com\/remanu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/RU262.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/etereman.com\/remanu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/06\/RU262.png 600w, https:\/\/etereman.com\/remanu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/06\/RU262-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><br \/>\nMy wife, 2 kids, Copper the dog, and I lived in our \u201cstarter home\u201d for 17 years.\u00a0 It was a quaint, 3-bedroom Cape Cod with a fenced in yard that was beautifully landscaped\u2026by my wife.\u00a0 But with every passing year, our home began to feel more and more <em>quaint<\/em>.\u00a0 We needed more space, and for a guy who is resistant to change, it was hard for me to admit it was time to look for a larger home.<br \/>\nWe then had to select a realtor from a number of our acquaintances who have made realty their 2<sup>nd<\/sup> career.\u00a0 We chose Rebecca, whom we\u2019ve known for 10+ years and whose daughter was in the same class as our son.<br \/>\nWe embarked on the lengthy process of looking for a home that checked all our boxes: open concept, ensuite bathroom for the master bedroom, chef\u2019s kitchen, finished basement, and 2-car attached garage.<br \/>\nBut, this wasn\u2019t House Hunters &#8211; and we couldn\u2019t get all these features with our budget.\u00a0 Rebecca, very patient with our lengthy search, graciously arranged every viewing, whether it be the first, second, or third for a particular home.\u00a0 We made an offer on a home that we liked a lot, but a higher offer was accepted.\u00a0 We were discouraged, but Rebecca stayed on the search.\u00a0 She found another home that was almost perfect, we loved it, and our offer was accepted!<br \/>\nAfter the stressful process of trying to sell our current home and of course packing everything up, the day arrived when we could move into our new place.<br \/>\nThe day we closed, Rebecca gave me a personalized sign for \u201cmy\u201d new basement bar: McGuire\u2019s Pub.\u00a0 Yes, Rebecca made a nice commission on both the purchase of our new home as well as the sale of our old home, but this gesture was beyond thoughtful.<br \/>\nAs Christmas approached, Rebecca sent us something else: a holiday ornament with the inscription of our new address on it.\u00a0 And on every April 15<sup>th<\/sup>, the anniversary of our move-in date, she sends us an anniversary card.<br \/>\nI recently read Frank Bettger\u2019s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Raised-Myself-Failure-Success-Selling\/dp\/067179437X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How I Raised Myself From Failure to Success in Selling.<\/a><\/em>\u00a0While I don\u2019t believe Rebecca read this book, she demonstrated four important concepts from it:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Find out what the customer wants and make them act on making it happen.<\/strong> Asking questions and listening gives you the opening you need to start your pitch. While a salesman can never know too much, you can certainly talk too much.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Realize that new customers are the best source of new business<\/strong>. Every customer has the potential to purchase again or refer friends and family.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Congratulate the customer on their decision to buy<\/strong>. Following a big purchase, it is natural to second guess. Congratulate a customer on their purchase and reinforce why they made a great one.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sell them and don\u2019t forget them.<\/strong> The sale does not end once you get paid. Stay in touch with your customers and continue to remind them why they bought from you.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It\u2019s been over three years since we moved. At times, it still seems like we are on vacation. If had to do it all over, I\u2019d choose Rebecca again.
