{"id":4370,"date":"2018-12-06T12:31:17","date_gmt":"2018-12-06T18:31:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/etereman.com\/remanu\/?p=4370"},"modified":"2018-12-06T12:31:17","modified_gmt":"2018-12-06T18:31:17","slug":"kickin-it-old-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/etereman.com\/remanu\/2018\/12\/06\/kickin-it-old-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Kickin\u2019 It Old School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4373\" src=\"http:\/\/etereman.com\/remanu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/RU387.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/etereman.com\/remanu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/12\/RU387.jpg 640w, https:\/\/etereman.com\/remanu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/12\/RU387-300x193.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><br \/>\nThis week has been a homecoming of sorts.\u00a0 Sadly, tragedy struck the family of a childhood best friend and a funeral brought some old friends together for the first time in several years.<br \/>\nWe\u2019ve attended each other\u2019s weddings, texted birthday greetings, celebrated milestones at a distance, but the three of us have not spent any real time together since we parted ways in Jr. high.\u00a0 A move took me away from our hometown, high school happened and somewhat separated the other two.\u00a0 There was never an ill word spoken, just the distance that grows as you mature and come into your own.<br \/>\nHowever, the sadness was overtaken by great memories and some awkward ones too, hello mid-90\u2019s, braces, and bad hair. If you saw us together that night, you would think that we were back in grade school comparing snap bracelets and plotting how we could convince our parents to let us have a sleepover on a school night.\u00a0 Back to work the next day and all of it still heavy on my mind.<br \/>\nNaturally, I now relate to work.\u00a0 As I worked through my morning projects, I had a few long pauses of thought and pondered how this <em>used<\/em> to be.\u00a0 If these projects or processes had to revisit their childhood \u2013 would they recognize themselves?<br \/>\nLately, my focus has been on quality.\u00a0 I\u2019m a small part of a much larger picture and work with some amazing people who do impressive things to improve our product.\u00a0 It\u2019s all rooted in the desire to do and be better and deliver the best remanufactured transmission to our customers.<br \/>\n<strong>New School: Service Cloud<\/strong><br \/>\nWe\u2019ve moved on from stagnant reports to an interactive system that allows us to see gaps in our quality in real time.\u00a0 Truly, enough praise can\u2019t be expressed to our developer and the team who has worked so hard to put that together for us.<br \/>\n<strong>New School:\u00a0 Quality Task Force<\/strong><br \/>\nA proactive team in place to offer their expertise to our builders, perform whole unit random inspections, and test skills to keep everyone fresh and on the same page.<br \/>\n<strong>New School:\u00a0 Warranty Review<\/strong><br \/>\nAt the end of each day, our Quality Task Force meets with product support and parts to discuss the day\u2019s findings, solutions, and create action plans.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nI would like to think that where you came from is always at least a little recognizable in your present and future.\u00a0 I\u2019m excited to be working towards something better and looking back helps me appreciate where I\u2019ve come from and how much more I, and my\u00a0colleagues, can do.<br \/>\nLooking back on my childhood, I\u2019m sure glad those braces are off, but I\u2019m even more thrilled to still have an appreciation for my core and the people I came from; both family and friends.\u00a0 I think little Girl Wonder would recognize me today.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2974\" src=\"http:\/\/etereman.com\/remanu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/AVA_RU-Blog-ADaugherty-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"AVA_RU-Blog-ADaugherty\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>Girl Wonder likes to kick it old school &#8211; except when new school strategies can help remind you of that young, invincible time&#8230; None of us &#8211; nor our businesses are invincible &#8211; so when a little nostalgia can inspire a new school approach, lean into it.
