Winter is over. Spring is here. Baseball is back in full swing, and you just got an email letting you know your favorite golf course is taking tee times. If you’re like many of us here at ETE, your office conversation lately might consist of figuring out when you’re going to a ball game, scheduling that next round, or planning your summer get away.
Sounds pretty great, right? Having outdoor activities to look forward to makes you feel good and puts the office in higher spirits, but is anyone putting that much thought into making that next sale?
When the sun is out, it’s hard to keep the idea of chasing customers on the top of your mind. When even the boss is thinking of the beach, the pool, or grilling out, how do you keep sales moving forward?
Take a little bit of spring and put it into your step.
1. Connect spring to sales. Is there something that your staff has in common or enjoys doing together? Over here, we took one of our team’s favorite activities, cheering on the Brewers, and connected it to a sales contest.
2. Pair up the competition. Everyone has a little bit of competitiveness in them, but some have more than others. Keep the contest fun and friendly by assigning teams. In our office, this works especially well by giving everyone someone other than themselves to keep them accountable. And let me tell you, the action is getting pretty intense.
3. Keep it in sight. I’m sure we’ve all been a part of contests that went on for far too long. You started out so excited, but then it just dragged on and on. Pick a deadline or end date that is only a few weeks out. When you can see it, the win is much more real.
With our Spring Training sales contest, we smashed together two of our favorites: baseball and bringing on new customers. It allows us to talk about America’s favorite pastime while keeping on track. Now, I know that a baseball game might not be up everybody’s alley, but making a contest that includes something everyone likes while drawing up new business is a win-win. What does your office do to keep folks selling? How much could you increase your profits by taking advantage of the season?
